While we all wait anxiously for the pandemic to end so we can go back to the movie theatre and stop binging the same shows on Netflix all week, DC Comics graced us with the ultimate Christmas gift this year of the newest Wonder Woman installment, "WW84."

In addition to hosting all the girl-power you've been craving, the film's earnestness and message of hope is something we could all use. Gal Gadot's instagram posts are full of comments from fans expressing how much they needed this film right now when times are tough for so many - and we gotta say we needed this ourselves.

The film picks up with our beloved Princess in one of Hollywood's most popular decades for period pieces - the '80s. Full to the brim with big hair, pleated pants, fanny packs & shoulder pads - it was a delightful homage to the fashion of the era. Gal Gadot's clearly been feeling that vibe - with a recent TikTok dance video where she dons a high scrunchie & big plastic hoop earrings.

A fantastic group of actors lit up the screen - and it looks as if they had a blast working together. Filmed prior to the pandemic - Gadot shared a pic of the cast at lunch, giving us major throwback to a time when takeout was a convenience and not just a way of life.

Gal & Kristen - Besties On Set!

In a behind the scenes video, Gal shared some of her & Kristen Wiig's antics on set.

While known for her comedy chops, Wiig was delightful as the relatable antagonist in this action film. I was a bit unsure of how they'd pull off this Cheetah character in practice, but the final fight scene made her appear absolutely terrifying - a true contender against our Wonder Woman. Underneath it all, the character who's wish of "becoming like no one else before, an apex predator" calls out to all of us looking to stand in our own power - the movie as a whole exploring the true cost of denying reality.

At a time when all of us are looking for a little escapism, Wonder Woman 1984 sweeps us up in the nostalgia of the '80s, while reminding us of an important lesson we could also use: wishes that deny reality will come at a cost that is too great - it is only by accepting what's real and true that we can move forward.

Keeping Close In Quarantine With Virtual Birthday Celebrations

One of the greatest delights of the film was the inclusion of that-one-guy-who-seems-to-be-everywhere-right-now, Pedro Pascal, aka The Mandalorian. The dude is showing some major range, from "Game of Thrones," to Inigo Montoya in a home filming of the Princess Bride, and Netflix's new film "We Can Be Heroes." We're sure this is only the beginning of Pascal's impressive credits.

Surprising some fans after his heroic death in 2017's "Wonder Woman," Diana's love interest Steve Trevor was back in action for this newest installment. And while the plot threads tied to revive Chris Pine's character were thin at best, bringing him back felt *oh so right.*

And for bonus fun, we got an easter egg post-credits of Lynda Carter (AKA the original WW), who, at 69 years young, still looks positively royal. You can also catch Diana and her invisible jet in the original episodes of Wonder Woman, available on HBO right now.

While Wonder Woman has carried the weight of the DC Comics movie franchise over the last few years, we await these upcoming releases with tentative hope: "Suicide Squad" sequel/reboot (August 2021), "The Batman" starring Robert Pattinson (March 2022), "The Flash" (November 2022), "Aquaman" sequel (December 2022), "Shazam" sequel (June 2023), and "Black Adam" starring Dwayne Johnson (TBD).
